Introduction

Emmanuel Joseph Bishop is an international self-advocate speaker who has delivered keynote speeches in four languages across four continents and has had the honor to play the violin at 11 Basilicas and Cathedrals.

Emmanuel has performed worldwide with symphony orchestras, string quartets/quintets, and youth orchestras; received Ruby's Rainbow Scholarship in 2015 and 2017, the 2015 National Down Syndrome Society Joshua O'Neill and Zeshan Tabani Enrichment Fund for Postsecondary Education, the Down Syndrome International 2017 World Down Syndrome Day Award for outstanding self-advocacy and the XVII Edizione 2018 Premio Internazionale Giuseppe Sciacca for music. Emmanuel performs on a Georges Mougenot ¾ violin (Belgium, 1896) and a Vector Prodigy Pro 4 string electric violin by Nick Tipney (Canada, 2016).

He has set six World Junior Down Syndrome swimming records; has two holes-in-one in golf; performed with the Manhasset Strings at the 10th Annual Young Musician Series, the Premier String Quartet at the National Down Syndrome Society Leadership Summit; was awarded First Prize Solo Violin Special at the Florida Keys International Music Competition for Young Talents at Carnegie Hall accompanied by Matt Bell; been interviewed by CNN; invited to speak in Missouri, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas and Indiana and has traveled to following countries as a self-advocate:
